Cyber Security Micro-credential for Educators

Description

ACS has partnered with Entersoft to deliver the Cyber Security Micro-credential for Educators. This micro-credential supports teacher professional development on the privacy and security section of the Australian Digital Technologies Curriculum.


The micro-credential consists of 4 modules. Each module will take approximately 1 hour to complete. The course is structured to cover key topics including:

           ● recognising cyber threats, understanding multi-factor authentication (MFA) and its role in protecting passwords.

           ● safeguarding personal and organisational data.

           ● managing digital footprints.

     ● applying Australian Privacy Principles.


      To compliment your professional development, the micro-credential includes a range of teaching resources. These will be available to download upon successful completion of each module. Join our forums to connect and collaborate with other teachers, share ideas, help with classroom implementation and, most importantly, be part of our online community.

      This module explains the role that multi-factor authentication plays in keeping data safe. It unpacks common phishing threats (smishing, vishing, clone phishing, spear phishing) as well as ransomware and malware.

      It supports professional development based on the content description: AC9TDI8P13 explain how multi-factor authentication protects an account when the password is compromised and identify phishing and other cyber security threats.

      This module continues to dive into cyber threats (man in the middle, replay attacks and denial of service). It unpacks the different vulnerabilities in systems that may cause cyber attacks and the tools used to mitigate potential or known issues.

      It supports professional development based on the content description: AC9TDI10P13 develop cyber security threat models, and explore a software, user or software supply chain vulnerability.

      This module explains digital footprint (active and passive) and user data. It considers the type of data that systems collect (essential and non-essential) and the importance this plays when students are creating digital solutions.

      It supports professional development based on the content description: AC9TDI8P14 investigate and manage the digital footprint existing systems and student solutions collect and assess if the data is essential to their purpose.

      This module unpacks the Australian Privacy Principles. It explains the role these principles play in managing and protecting a user’s digital footprint.

      It supports professional development based on the content description: AC9TDI10P14 apply the Australian Privacy Principles to critique and manage the digital footprint that existing systems and student solutions collect.
